Andrea Hartlage, KG4IUM, named
Andrea Hartlage, KG4IUM, of Lawrenceville, Georgia,
has been selected from among several applicants to serve as the contributing editor for the ARRL Web-based "Youth@HamRadio.Fun" column.
She succeeds Brian Mileshosky, N5ZGT, who handled the column for three years. A rising high school freshman (she expects to attend Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia),
Andrea, 14, has been licensed for almost three years and holds an Amateur Extra class ticket.
She's an Amateur Radio Emergency Service member and serves as an administrative assistant for the Gwinnett County ARES EOC Response Team, headed by her dad, Scott, KF4PWI, and also serves as an ARES net control station.
A member of several ham radio clubs, she enjoys CW, SSB and digital modes and is helping to organize Field Day.
While she attended middle school her activities included membership in the Georgia Teen Institute and the Student Reading Council, and she was a peer leader in a program to help guide sixth and seventh graders.
She also was part of the "WSMS News Crew," which produced an in-school TV newscast. An ARRL member, Andrea also belongs to the A1 Operator Club, the Young Ladies Radio League (YLRL) and FISTS.
